Surrey Women’s Centre’s Year-end Campaign was a perfect way to celebrate International Women’s Day
The Surrey Women’s Centre has completed their year-end “awareness” campaign on a high note. The campaign was launched on International Women’s Day and was accompanied with fundraising efforts to increase the availability of counseling resources at the Centre.
As a culmination of their campaign, the Centre recognized six individuals and one organization with the Champions of Change Award in a gala ceremony. The awardees have demonstrated a significant commitment to creating a gender-equitable world, and their leadership and dedication have transformed Surrey Women’s Centre’s services and programs.
The awardees included philanthropic leaders Christine LaLiberte and Donna Balfour, community leaders Angela Marie MacDougall and Fay Blaney, Fraser Health Authority’s Forensic Nursing Program, and Sonia Andhi for her empowerment work through the Shakti Awards. In addition, the Centre also recognized a survivor for her resilient journey.
The event was a huge success and a perfect way to celebrate International Women’s Day. The Champions of Change Award is an important recognition of community members who are greatly advancing gender equity and human rights.
The Surrey Women’s Centre’s campaign was well-received, and the fundraising efforts ensured that more counseling resources are available to support vulnerable women and girls in Surrey and beyond. Overall, it was a year of awareness and change for the Centre, and we can only hope to see more efforts like this in the future.
