PRESIDENT REPORT

RJ Lundquist

Dear friends,

As the new Board Chair of Surrey Women’s Centre, I want to extend our deep appreciation to our valued supporters. You are the backbone of Surrey Women’s Centre!

In the aftermath of the pandemic, we have renewed our vision and strategic priorities for the next year. First and foremost, our goal is to enhance our trauma-informed services for survivors of gender-based violence. To achieve this, we are committed to building partnerships that promote safety, trust, and collaboration to better support survivors on their healing journey. A key strategy is pursuing sustainable revenue streams to ensure we can remain flexible enough to serve the diverse needs of women and children in Surrey.

My heartfelt appreciation also extends to our dedicated volunteers and staff including special thanks to our executive director, Shahnaz Rahman, for being a passionate advocate and selfless leader. The unwavering support of our staff, volunteers and supporters is the bedrock of our success. I want to personally thank each and every one of you for upholding our mission.

Sincerely – RJ Lundquist, Board Chair

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR REPORT

Shahnaz Rahman

Dear friends,

I am so pleased to announce that the government chose Surrey Women’s Centre to set up the first and only sexual assault centre in Surrey! Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we have a long history of standing up for survivors. Every dollar of your support makes it possible for us to pick up the phone when survivors call for help.

Your support will continue to be a lifeline for survivors who have nowhere else to turn.

Surrey’s new Sexual Assault Centre will be a safe place where survivors can get help any time of the day or night. Survivors can now have all of their needs met in one location. The clinic will offer a broad range of trauma-informed services tailored to meet the individual needs of each survivor.

The new sexual assault centre represents a significant milestone in Surrey Women’s Centre’s fight for freedom, equality, and justice! But we could not have done it without the support of our generous donors. Thank you for standing with survivors!

Thank you – Shahnaz Rahman
