Trauma Counseling

Trauma Counseling

What do we do

We offer 1:1 and group counselling for women and girls who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault or childhood abuse.

Group counselling provides a safe place for women to share their stories with other survivors of violence. Women learn from others who have shared experiences while decreasing feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Why do we exist

It is sexual assault whenever words and actions of a sexual nature are imposed against another person’s will. The underlying motivations for sexual assault is dominance and control.

Individual sessions explore the dynamics of violence and the impact of trauma on women’s lives. Counsellors build supportive relationships to empower women and give them control over their own healing.

We facilitate healing in ways that respect women’s strengths and right to self-determination.

Who is most affected

While women, girls and children are most likely to face sexual and domestic violence, Surrey Women’s Centre provides counselling services to all survivors of all genders.
