What is a Bad Date?
A “Bad Date” refers to any negative experience that you don’t want yourself or other women to experience. These experiences could include feeling uncomfortable about a date, sexual abuse or rape, someone stealing or refusing to pay, or any and all acts of violence and aggression. Anything the victim feels is harmful to them and their well-being is considered a Bad Date. By reporting and sharing these bad experiences we can become aware of the predators in our community and can help protect each other.
Bad Date Reporting
As part of our SMART program, Surrey Women’s Centre has been supporting the safety of sex workers and exploited women, by the use of Bad Date Reports. SWC uses the “Bad Date Alert”, a system which was implemented to decrease and deter violence against women by providing vital information and resources to these women to help them stay safe. Bad Date Alerts also provide an effective tool for relevant agencies and service providers.
