Many women experiencing domestic violence are financially dependent on their partners and don’t know help is available. Surrey Women’s Centre is partnering with the Ministry of Housing and Social Development to ensure women and children fleeing violence in the city of Surrey understand their rights and are able to access the financial support they need to break free from violence.
With the help of Coast Capital Savings, Mac’s Convenience Stores, the Vancouver Foundation, and the South Asian Bar Association we are assisting women who apply for income assistance. To facilitate this, we have compiled the following information for women escaping abuse:
- Your Rights: A summary of rights and benefits
- Applying for Assistance: How to apply for income assistance
- Application Identification: Documents required to apply for income assistance
- Assistance Rates: Current monthly rates and additional supports such as hardship
In addition, we offer one-hour training and a checklist for service providers who want more information about supporting women fleeing domestic violence. Call us at 604-589-1868 x221 to schedule a session.
